Spotify Redesign
As part of a studio class project, I explored a redesign of Spotify’s mobile interface with a focus on improving usability, visual hierarchy, and overall user experience. The goal was to modernize the UI, simplify navigation, and create a more personalized and engaging listening experience for users.

Challenge
The existing Spotify interface felt visually dense and cluttered, making it difficult for users to discover new music intuitively.
Limited contrast and inconsistent spacing affected readability and hierarchy.
Key features like lyrics, playlists, and recommendations were scattered, reducing flow between discovery and listening.
There was an opportunity to reimagine the visual identity while preserving Spotify’s brand essence.
Solution
Interface Simplification: Refined the layout with clearer visual hierarchy and consistent spacing to reduce cognitive load.
Enhanced Navigation: Streamlined the bottom navigation bar and reorganized key sections for more intuitive access.
Visual Refresh: Introduced a darker, cleaner aesthetic with refined typography and modernized iconography.
Personalization: Emphasized user-driven content, such as top artists, genres, and playlists, to create a more tailored experience.
Impact
Improved legibility and ease of use across core browsing and playback screens.
Strengthened Spotify’s visual identity through minimal, cohesive design updates.
Positive feedback from peers and instructors for balancing functionality with visual appeal.
Demonstrated the potential for small UI refinements to meaningfully elevate the overall user experience.
Deliverables
User flow diagrams and wireframes
High-fidelity Figma prototypes (mobile)
Interactive prototype for usability testing
UI design system including icons, colors, and type styles
